just for anybodies information the departmental train at 11:11 is high output Electrification Train this was first used on the GWML ELECTRIFICATION the first unit was named Brunel.

Saw 807002 pass through Carlisle this morning - my assumption its going to get its dings and issues sorted out before Avanti accept it and put the vinyls on. Good to see the 43 heading for repainting to join the expanding pullman fleet. Great collection of catches.

The stupidity of people must never be under estimated, a foot crossing is used to cross , if you're going to face with your back to traffic there's a good chance that the largest part of you found will be your rib cage , your entrails will be scattered , wound round the axles , the skull will be peeled of flesh after being bounced about under the loco and rake . General mess and fairly funky smell . The driver will need help for quite a while . And all for a picture . How can anyone be called a rail fan when they're stupid enough to ignore simple rules .

Rats i seem to remember were class 25s not 26s.

your footage with the drone is pretty stable considering it was so windy friday and it was such a small uav.

Excellent I worked into Toton regularly from Shirebrook on coal trains in the 70s shed was full of peaks, Had a photo took of me in the driving seat of Scafell Pike good days.

Magnificent to see and hear . childhood memories of class 55 locomotive’s still running on York lines in the 70s near where I lived as a child. The sound and the plumes of smoke were quite the spectacle.

I believe that and I am expecting that EMD/Progress Rail are to rebuilt/repurpose these 12 Class 60's to something that what become of the Class 56's into Class 69's. But with 60014 at Longport and talks of EMD/PR are to use the more compact Caterpillar C-175 units into these Class 60's as the EMD 710 power unit is 4 inches too tall to fit into the Class 60 shell without altering the roof profile. Whilst the original Mirrlees unit is Euro 3 emissions. The C-175 is Euro 6/Tier 4 which makes it more compliant when going through cities that have ULEZ restrictions. I am not even going to speak about that silly idea of a steam/hydrogen idea that popped up a while ago because to me. That doesn't seem logical when we have a much better and cheaper Euro 6 alternative available that would extend the life of these Class 60 shells for up to 20 years. I am still keeping an eye on 60014 for the meantime though as that to me seems to be the most logical choice. Great video as well by the way. Peter.

Any way to know when the road journeys will be? I've seen a couple of them passing through Alsager just before the final destination (a few weeks ago). Would be nice to know when exactly the others will pass through.

It seems strange how any of these locos can be cost effectively returned to operational readiness given that the reason for their storage was presumably due to defects that were deemed uneconomical to fix at the time.

I can never understand why they don't put certain Class Loco's in 1 Area (Stored & a separate Running area then another Class Loco in a 2nd area ete-etc, It would be far easier to move Loco's around the base and save loads of time. In the late 70-80's the Loco's on Toton use to be all in excellent condition (Very rare you would see a bad condition one unless it was accident damaged) but these days apart from the refurbished Loco's on shed they all look derelict.

Worked on class 60's from brand new, they cost just over £ 1 million each, 100 built. In my opinion, the Mirrlees engine was not the best choice of unit as we had issues with the Mirrlees engined 37 /9's. Ruston /Paxman , GM would have been my choice. I suggested over 15 years ago to EWS management, a GM710 or similar should have been fitted to a 60 with upgraded electronics. That would have made a very good loco. 60's let down by niggly faults, even the upgrades had limited impact . They were a very good loco early days, the issues started when they were not allocated to a specific home base depot but a general allocation at Toton. That's when the rot started.

Another good video, a question though, are the 69s conversions from UK built or Romanian built 56s. I'm thinking the former as the latter were troublesome.
